Directions: Look around your house at any plastic container. If you look carefully (usually on the bottom) there will be a small triangle with a number in it. This is the recycling code for this type of plastic. There are SIX different categories. See if you can find all six in your house or garage. Then using your senses, examine each container for texture, gloss or shine, color, flexibility, transparency, etc. Then fill our the chart below. If you find more than one in a certain category write it down as well. For example, you may find 3 number 1's so in column two write all three types of containers down.

Questions: These plastics can all be recycled. If they were mixed up all together in a large dump truck how could you separate them so they could be recycled? (would you pay someone to separate them or do you think there might be an easier way?) If so what is it?
